JOIN THE TEAM

At Mortgage 1st we are passionate about the continued growth and development of our team.

We have exciting opportunities available for qualified Mortgage & Protection Advisers along with roles suitable for those with no former qualifications or experience but keen to step into the financial services industry.

History – I joined the financial services industry in 2001, prior to that I had many jobs including supermarket shelf stacker, travel agent and call centre worker. My first job in the industry was as a financial advisor for Co-op Bank. I left there in 2003 to join a firm of independent mortgage advisers where I stayed until 2008 when I left to set up Mortgage 1st.

For the first 5 years, Mortgage 1st was just me as an adviser working from home. It wasn’t until 2013 that I employed my first member of staff and since then the company has grown year on year to where we are today.

I never set out to be the managing director of a large mortgage broker firm but I wouldn’t change a thing! I’m extremely proud of the team we have and will continue to build and the high standards we deliver to our customers.

When I’m not in the office, you will find me – Spending time with my wife and 2 young children and watching Sunderland (attempt) to play football!

History – After studying Fashion Marketing at University, I secured my first job as a Manager for Topshop Retail in 2004. Then in 2008 I left to launch my own Wedding Planning Company. During this time I also worked alongside a Boutique Hotel as one of their wedding coordinators and ran training courses specialising in business start-up and event management. I joined Mortgage 1st in 2015 to initially support my husband Jon with the day-to-day running and management of the company. My role as Director has evolved over the years and I now dedicate the majority of my time to the areas of the business I’m most passionate about which is marketing and the growth and ongoing development of our team.

When I’m not in the office, you will find me – Looking after our young children, shopping or pottering around at home!

History – I have been part of Mortgage 1st since 2016 and the evolution of Mortgage1st as a business during this relatively short space is an incredible testament to all that have been involved and it really does shows what can be achieved when ambitious and like-minded people work together to attain the same end goal. I am lucky to work with such an incredible, dedicated & motivated team of people who are so invested in Mortgage1st and the services that we offer.

I am so passionate about our business and completely dedicated in doing my part in contributing to our growth and expansion. I am grateful for the way in which my role has developed in line with the changes the business has experienced over the years. Together I know we will accomplish our ultimate goals as a company but most importantly provide the best possible service and experience for our clients. I am excited to see what the future holds for us and looking forward to many more years with Mortgage 1st

When I’m not in the office, you will find me – enjoying the simple things in life, relaxing, good company, spending time with my teenage son (a rare treat) nice food and of course wine, I have a particular fondness for wine (Not my fault, it’s in the genes)  I am very interested in Spirituality, mindfulness and meditation, I enjoy reading and developing my understanding in these practices and applying them to real life as it helps to keep me centred and give me balance.

History – My career in Financial services started in 1998 after leaving University, initially working within mortgage underwriting. I realised that whilst underwriting a client’s mortgage application was rewarding, I wanted to be the one providing expert advice to help clients with their mortgage needs and protect what was important to them.

After several years as a Mortgage and Protection Adviser, I joined Royal Bank of Scotland Group. Over a 14 year period I worked in various adviser development and leadership roles, working with advisers and enhancing the customer experience.

In 2018 I left Corporate banking to return to the Whole of Market environment working in a business and adviser development capacity before joining Mortgage 1st.

When I’m not in the office, you will find me – You will find my wife and I trying to wear out our son and entertained away from You Tube and games consoles. As a family we are regulars at theme parks, when not at Alton Towers we will be out walking with our 2 dogs.

History – I have worked in financial services for the last 16 years, prior to this I followed sporting aspirations as a Professional Footballer and worked in various sales/training roles with Churchill Insurance. In 2007 I joined Royal Bank of Scotland, progressing to Relationship Bank Manager before closing out my time there as a Senior Private Banking Manager, mainly dealing with complex Mortgage cases for affluent clients.

My time within the Intermediary Industry began at Mansfield Building Society, managing the Intermediary Team and growing distribution channels for the Regional Building Society during my time there. The desire to understand more about the Intermediary sector led to roles with The Money Group as MD of TMG Mortgage Club and more recently as Head of Intermediary at Fintech Specialist Lender, Proportunity.

Having built a wide range of skills and connections across the Intermediary sector, the role as Head of Growth at Mortgage 1st sang out as an opportunity not to be missed. With such a great brand firmly in place, I look forward to being a part of an exciting future ahead.

When I’m not in the office, you will find me – with my beautiful family and shouting on Middlesbrough FC.

History – Since leaving school I have worked within the child care industry at a number of day nurseries gaining qualifications along the way. My latest role was as a senior supervisor at a play centre within a holiday park, after a number of years I realised I enjoyed the ‘paperwork’ side of things more and decided a change in career was needed…. This is when I joined the administrations team at Mortgage 1st

History – I joined Financial Services before getting my A Level results many years ago. I qualified as a Mortgage and Financial Adviser before I was 20 and have been in Financial Services ever since. I spent time working in Banks and Building Societies as both a Mortgage and Financial Adviser. Prior to joining Mortgage 1st I was managing a Mortgage Brokers but I missed the direct relationship with clients and joined Mortgage 1st to begin advising again, I get a huge sense of pride in helping clients achieve their goals.

History – I have worked within the financial services sector since 2001, working as a whole of market broker for the last five years. Prior to that I worked within the wealth management sector. I decided to specialise within the mortgage arena as I gained more job satisfaction from helping clients achieve their goals for them and their families of owning their own home.

When I’m not in the office, you will find me – At the gym as I enjoy keeping fit or at the cinema as I’m a bit of a film buff. You can also find me supporting Wolverhampton Wanderers and socialising with family and friends.

History – I’ve worked in Financial services since 1990, with the last 24 years as a Mortgage Adviser. I worked for Britannia in the branch network for 22 years, and offered mortgage advice in various branches through East Anglia, before leaving in 2014 and starting my whole-of-market journey. I just thrive on helping people achieve their dream of owning their own home, and want to continue to do that with Mortgage 1st.

When I’m not in the office, you will find me – Taking long walks with my hubby, Nigel and our crazy dog Buttons. I love to socialise and play in a local crib league once a week. Myself and Nigel love our holidays, and can be found in Greece at least once a year.

After passing my CeMAP qualification I decided to move away from Nationwide to become a self-employed Mortgage Adviser, before deciding to join up with the team at Mortgage 1st.

When I’m not in the office, you will find me – On long walks with my other half Georgie and our dog Cooper. I also spend my time watching Sheffield Wednesday (unfortunately), attempting to play golf and socialising with friends.

History – I started my career in estate agency and have worked in the financial industry since 2002 when I joined Halifax as a development manager. I have been a mortgage and protection adviser for the last 15 years and truly love what I do. A mortgage just isn’t about borrowing money, it’s about realising an aspiration and there’s nothing quite as satisfying as helping a client achieve that dream.

When I’m not in the office, you will find me – After studying Art at University, it continues to be my passion and when I’m not running around after my 3 girls and 2 dogs, I have my head buried in an art magazine or can be found travelling the country visiting exhibitions.

History – I have worked in financial services since 2010 initially joining Yorkshire Building Society as a cashier, whilst there I studied for my Cemap and began mortgage advising. In 2013 I left YBS to take a role as a whole of market broker because I did not want to be restricted to one lender’s criteria and by being whole of market I would be able to help more of the customers I spoke to. I loved working there and in 2018 I stepped into a role managing the team I had previously worked in. It was a great learning experience but I missed mortgage advising and the day to day contact with customers. When I saw the vacancy at Mortgage 1st I was really excited by the opportunity and felt it was the right move for me.

History – Having worked in accounts departments since I was 16, I went on to graduate from Northumbria University, Newcastle with an Accounting degree. Continuing my career in the financial services industry, I gained my dream role as a Mortgage & Protection Adviser at London & Country Mortgages. Within my 1st year, I gained my CeMAP qualifications and went on to win the award for ‘Best Newcomer of the Year’. The following year I was also nominated for ‘Adviser of the Year’.

When I’m not in the office, you will find me – Watching Rugby at Franklins Gardens home of Northampton Saints and I also play football on a Sunday for my local team. I have two daughters who keep my wife and I busy so there is never much “down time” in our house which is great.

History – I joined the world of Financial Services in 2014 after I finished university. I worked my way up from mortgage administrator in a large mortgage firm to Para planer for a company director, covering all aspects of the mortgage and protection process. In 2018 I finally took the plunge and did my Cemap and I haven’t looked back since. It was the best decision I ever made, seeing people get their dream homes and feel comfortable with you as a person is such an amazing feeling. No two days are ever the same in this line of work and that what I love the most!

History – I have been in the financial services sector since 1999, I became a fully qualified Mortgage Adviser in 2004 and since then I have worked for various Banks and Building societies until 2016. I have been working as a Mortgage Broker since then and I really enjoy being able to help more people achieve their dreams, be it buying their first home, moving to a bigger home, or even saving money on their existing mortgage or helping them pay off their mortgage sooner.

When I am not in the office you will find me – attempting to keep fit at the gym and running around the local reservoir. I also like spending time with my Wife and socialising with her and friends at the weekend.

History – I have worked within the financial services sector since 2013. I worked at Barclays, undertaking several roles including relationship banking. I made a career choice- I wanted to be a Mortgage Adviser. In 2014 I qualified and entered the world of mortgage brokering at Reeds Rains EA. Having spent 5 years with the company I then moved to Countrywide and worked a further 3 years with them, arranging mortgages and helping clients achieve their property dreams. Becoming part of the team with Mortgage 1st is by far the best decision I’ve made.

My role there consisted of keying some of the most complex applications and managing them right through to completion. When the opportunity came up to work remotely for Mortgage 1st I couldn’t pass it up, I am excited to see where my new role takes me within the Mortgage industry.
